Meet The Characters : 3 Even Extra More Characters From My Debut Novel - Winter Bound

The Mississippi River pack is a "nine" member werewolf pack based in my own urban fantasy world set in an alternate world of my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri.

They all live just outside of the city limits on a ten acre forested lot in a modest mansion (at least as modest as you can have with 10 people living there), by the Missouri river.

Every full moon, the moon song calls to the their beast and they change into their wolf. To hunt, and run and play and fight and explore all night long, just like their wild natural cousins.

In my world werewolves are able to change from human to wolf at will, not just at the full moon, where they are forced to whether they want to or not. With practice and time they can change quickly and of course have all the powers that come with being a werewolf. They are a little faster than human, have heightened senses such as smell and sight, and can physically heal faster than humans, that is unless they are attacked by an enchanted weapon, which can leave a smooth scar on their skin. Like vampires and other supernaturals, werewolves also age slowly, meaning that while they can appear to be in their late 20's or 30's they could be anywhere from 25 to 500 years old (or older).

The Mississippi River pack wasn't doing to bad for themselves, that is until one wrong bite forces Vampiric Grand Duchess Nutarah Emberkoh to become mixed up with them and their escapades.

Today I will do a mini preview into 3 main characters of the Mississippi River Pack series:

• Gabriel "Gabe" Mateo Vazquez

• Haven "Aven" Diego Vazquez

• Kalilah "Kika" Sanaa Malick

I don't have proper sketches of these characters yet, but I'll be sure to post them when I do.

Gabriel "Gabe" Mateo Vazquez

Age: 38

Supernatural Type: Werewolf

Hair: Reddish Brown

Eyes: Hazel

Occupation: Mechanic

The first born of identical twin boys by exactly 5 minutes and 26 seconds according to their mother, Gabe and Aven were born werewolves, unlike most of their blood related family. While the pack considers them both to be very young by a wide margin, he and his brother are actually the oldest of 2 siblings (Also werewolves). Gabe himself is considered reserved and more introverted than Aven, but that doesn't stop him from throwing down if he has too. He is a werewolf after all, and while he and Aven are considered identical twins, that is if he and his brother didn't change their hair color, they actually mirror each other when in wolf form. Gabe's wolf is more reddish with brown markings and Aven is more brownish with red markings.

Gabe got his love of working on cars from his grandfather on his fathers side, but when he isn't running his small but good mechanic shop, you can find him with his family/pack/friends watching sports or just running free in wolf form. Unlike a lot of young werewolves, he and Aven are very close with their many blood relatives, which is not always the case when your were a teenage hellion.

Haven "Aven" Diego Vazquez

Age: 38

Supernatural Type: Werewolf

Hair: Dirty Blonde

Eyes: Hazel

Occupation: Mechanic

The second born of identical twin boys, his government name is Haven, but because a lot of his extended family never pronounced the 'H', it just became easier to go by Aven. While the pack considers them both to be very young by a wide margin, he and his brother are actually the oldest of 2 siblings (also born werewolves). Aven, unlike Gabe, is more likely to be outgoing and jovial, until he sees someone he cares for being hurt. Just like his older brother, he was also quite the hellion when he was a teenager. But now when working at his grandfather's mechanic shop, it's safe to say that he's gotten most of that out of his system....mostly.

He'll never admit it out loud but he does have a soft crush on Kika. Loves to flirt, however for as outgoing and charismatic as he can be he's not quite sure how to go about this considering she's pack. He enjoys hanging out and watching sports, and running free in wolf form much like his brother, but also likes to help with cookouts at his blood family's house, were there are always lot of hungry werewolves to feed, including the pack.

Kalilah "Kika" Sanaa Malick

Age: 48

Supernatural Type: Werewolf

Hair: Sandy Blonde

Eyes: Green

Occupation: Massage therapist / Yoga Instructor

Like most werewolves, Kika was changed into a werewolf. She was in college studying for a bachelors degree in Nutrition and one late night out with her friends, they were attacked. It could have been so much worse, but because of the stereotypes that being supernatural brings, her parents disapproved and blamed her for being out in the first place, and she distanced herself from them and her other siblings.

After Alastor and the rest of the pack found her and took her under their wing, she settled right into her found family. She feels stable and safe when with her pack, and tries to practice more passive aggressiveness than just straight up throwing down and has won more than her share of battles with fang and claw. Even though she is the youngest female (and the omega female), she's still older than Gabe and Aven, but is the youngest girl in the pack. She speaks fluent Arabic and English, but and has no accent in either language, and enjoys meditation, swimming, and reading.
