The Rough Draft Challenge, TrackerBear and Possible Pacemaker

As we all know, NaNoWriMo is far for what it used to be, many people have created their own challenges or have simple done the 50k in 30 days on their own. However some just don't just have that same 'wow' that the original challenge had......Enter The Rough Draft Challenge....

The Rough Draft Challenge was created by author and youtuber Sarra Cannon (Link to her youtube channel here). She actually has a second channel dedicated to planners and washi type organization for other indie authors called HeartBreathings (link found here). There are many word count trackers out there but I like the idea of this one the most.

No it's not sponsored or a collaboration post, I just really like the advice she gives sometimes and kind of think of her as a online guru that has good ideas when it comes to organizing my writing life.

While I'm not exactly able to participate this month, I wanted to talk about it here because I think that it's a great idea. It's not restricted to just writing either, if you're a crafter and have a side business making products or need to get something cleaned out or have another personal project as I understand it it's great for tracking that progress as well. there are different goal levels based on gemstones (like diamond or sapphire goals based on the number you want to achieve, but without the pressure, because she is well aware that unexpected things happen and the goal (unlike NaNo) is very adjustable. :)

As far as specific word count trackers, I have heard that Pacemaker is very good and useful and haven't heard bad things about it.

As far as me personally, I am using a site called TrackBear and really enjoy it so far. I think it's very user friendly and straight to the point, so it could use a little more style I think, but you can see your overall progress and the day's progress on one page.

I want to be clear and think that Sarra Cannon's The Rough Draft Challenge is great and can only get better from here, so I might give it a go during the next round.

I also like how there are more than just the official NaNo website in order to make it 'official' which is complete nonsense. Even though I fell into the entire if it's not 50,000 words then it's not a 'real' novel mindset once, but I am also a very intuitive writer so it was a little difficult but I did give myself a little grace.

Please.....I've read books that are less that than and have been published and marketed and claimed to be 'novels' so there.

Do you write?

Do you like to write?

Good, it doesn't matter what it is - you're a writer.

Even if you still have one foot in the closet like me.
