That's right, I'm bad at the monthly check in so far considering I'm a week late on this update, and have written absolutely zero words this week. Between family events and prepping for winter, and still looking for a day job and college football season, and cooking and researching projects, I've been a bit overwhelmed.
However as I was told to relax and rest for a bit by way more people than I would like to admit, which naturally I struggle to do because my nervous system doesn't seem to understand what that means, at least the weather is starting to feel like fall, we are due for a solid week of rain and that to me would be perfect writing time, if I can carve out some time. Needless to say, while I can still listen to some comfort reads via audible, and still try to carve out a solid plot for book 2.
As for my "monthly check in", back in September I set 3 goals.
Edited Book 2 draft
Getting ahead on future blog posts
Have Book 2 cover
You would think I have learned my lesson by now as I have not completed these.
I need to have smaller goals and have those as the general idea. Which I haven't really given up on and still want to complete by the end of the year, which should give me plenty of time....I think....
I do have some inspirational breadcrumbs that are leading me in a direction that I think that the book will go into. But that would mean I have to do some major rewrites starting nearly back at the inciting incident. For my draft now however, I don't regret it because it did help me develop some kind of routine, and let me get my scene ideas and dialog on paper and out of my brain space for me to breathe and think of the next part.
As for now I'm going to make a homemade pumpkin spice coffee and get back to it.
I'm almost there I can feel it!
