I mostly work from home for my day job, but once a week I go into the office and thats the day I find myself chanting "Don't run away and write full time...Don't run away and write full time..."
I actually enjoy my day job deep down, having worked many jobs (and had many career changes) where I find myself crying on my way to work. My current position is far from terrible and toxic.
So with as much as I love being an indie author, why not write full time?
Well...in no particular order:
Insurance: As a resident of the United States, my country has a lot to offer, but universal healthcare is not one of them. The easiest way to get insurance is through a job.
Money Stability: With my Monday through Friday job, comes a predictable and steady paycheck. As an indie author who is basically starting over her platform, until my books bring in as much of a paycheck that I have now, I won't be leaving my day job anytime in the near future.
I Don't Have A Youtube Channel: This is nothing against those who do youtube full time (quite frankly I would say that i'm slightly jealous that they can be full time creative entrepreneur). And I have learned a few tips when it comes to writing prep, planning, routines, from said youtubers. However, while I can't say this for every indie author who has a youtube channel a lot of their income stream seems to be from monetization from their channel and/or sponsored in one form or another.
BOUNS: I don't have any courses to offer or have book merch. I don't have a business/planning/writing guide to offer. I don't have any sponsors for my books or site.
Could this change? ABSOLUTELY !!!
Will it change anytime soon?
Well...I'm aiming to have book 2 of the Mississippi River Pack to be released in Spring of 2025. And Book 3 released in Fall 2025. So I'll have the makings of a backlist going.
The way that ideas for scenes keep coming to me, in a perfect world I would release 3 titles next year. But lets start with Book 1 shall we?
For now you can find me on here or hanging out on one of my socials about once a week. Feel free to follow, I usually follow back.
