I Am Back From Hibernation, Happy (Belated) Wolf Moon. Are You Ready For 2026?

I am quite partial the the wolf moon as January is my birthday month. While I most of the time on my birthday I'm used to being snowed in (or rather iced in because St. Louis gets an obnoxious amount of ice storms) this year there were no severe ice storms. In fact the weather was so decent, my husband and I went to the zoo. Sure it was, chilly outside but the polar bears didn't seem to mind it at all.
While I'm not trying to come across as 2026 is the year I change everything overnight, I have thought about how I want to go about this year as far as my writing career goes. At least for the first quarter of the year anyway....mostly...
I'm trying to take it a bit slow. Trying NOT to stress so much about getting a day job but trying to take this time to really deep dive into my indie author career (until I obtain a day job) and not feel guilt or shame about doing I have discovered is actually self care for me.
Some of my goals this quarter in no particular order are:
Find a community - I'm always feeling like I'm "Shouting into the void" when ever I post online and it's really easy to feel lonely. So I plan on posting more occasionally on social media, at the very least instagram. And I also have an idea to reach out to other indie authors for little blog interviews. More to come of that later.
Write. - Full stop, period. done. Just write. I want to be an indie author. indie authors write - therefore I must give myself permission to write without guilt of thinking that I should be doing something else. If anything, I am determined to retrain my nervous system into relaxing while building my platform and writing.
Sell more books of course - I feel like that this is the default goal for any indie author but if I can pull it off I want to be able to write and publish books 2 and 3 - that way there can finally be out of my head and into the wild.
How about you? Are you an indie author with a to do list? Have any thoughts about 2026 so far? Feel free to start a conversation, and let me know what you think?
