I Might Need To Rethink My Writing Plan, But October Is Not Done Yet

Why is it that our writing plans go array? My goal was 10,000 words a week for 4 weeks (month of October) but alas here we are, another 3k-ish short of my goal at 7,828. But does that mean I failed so far? Or does it mean that I just have to rethink about how to approach my goal?

Rethinking my goal it is because October is not done yet.

So as explained earlier, 10,000 works for 4 weeks in October. This would be about 2,000 words for 5 out of 7 days. However some days are better than others and after 2 weeks of trying to hit 10,000 works I have come up short by 2,172 words as compared to the previous week where I came up short with 2570. So I hit 7430 for week one and 7828 for week two.

Now my goal here is not to make it perfect but to challenge myself to write a longer more fleshed out draft for book 2, and that way I can polish and edit the draft more in November and/or possibly work on book 3.

However, only 2172 words short of my 10k goal this week does make me think that I might be able to catch those elusive 2,500 ish words for the week, but I have to keep going. I have discovered that there are some things that I have to figure out plot wise and if I wasn't so worried about finding a day job I think I could relax more about it, but that's why I didn't want to challenge myself for more than 10k words for fear that it would be too difficult for me to catch up if something came up and I would feel discouraged if I didn't meet the goal.

But expecting these hiccups is kinda apart of the process I supposed.

Oddly enough I don't feel discouraged now even though I haven't hit my goal yet but I do feel motivated to hit 10k next week even though I know that I won't be able to do the full 5 days of 2k words. I still have another 2 weeks in the challenge I set for myself but maybe it's more of just an exploratory. venture than I realize, especially as I am word building and developing the plot and subplots.

But....maybe I can try and do 3,333 words for three days straight as I am preoccupied for 2 of the 5 "work" days that I didn't account for when I started this.
