A chefs favorite holiday, is basically any holiday where they can cook their little hearts out for their family and friends. As a home chef (cook) myself, one of these holidays is Thanksgiving. My husband and I have complete control over the menu and we never really find ourselves super stressed about the day.
Fox, resident chef and member of the Mississippi River Pack, shuts down his Mediterranean style restaurant, Ménta, for an entire week just to make food for the pack, and has way more food on the menu than I do.
He loves to cook, and as werewolves need a lot of energy from food, you would think that they were all going into hibernation. He of course has help in the kitchen from Misty, resident 'alpha' female and great cook in her own right.
To quote Gordon Ramsey "Anything you can done in advance do it!"
In the beginning of the week - this includes :
Cranberry sauce
Stuffing (Technically a dressing because I make it as it's own dish, and I dry the bread crumbs myself which takes a few days)
Maple carrots
Apple pie
And for the Day of:
Mashed Potatoes (made day off so that the potatoes don't get weird)
Turkey
Gravy
Slow cooker hot chocolate with homemade whipped cream
And as Yule and Christmas seems to start earlier and earlier every year, I always found for me that it starts right after Thanksgiving dinner and starts that evening officially.
And even though St. Louis will have cold weather (sometimes even Arctic like), I rather it would just snow from end of November to February straight.Somehow snow makes the cold more bearable for me. It doesn't really happen much here though, but when it does it's a straight blizzard. #snowmagedon. It's more like we can get some snow, but then it's ice storms and winter mixes left and right. I know how to drive in rough weather especially now that I finally have 4 wheel drive, but other most other people in my part of town?
I would much rather stay home and enjoy the snow covered winter night and write my little heart out on a very full tummy.
